My first challenge took me to a realization that marked a huge difference for me as a Leadership Coach.
What a great group of youngsters, full of ideas and energy, in this wonderful working environment lead by upcoming leaders who started from “the bottom” and prove through their good performance… I said to myself after interviewing the entire team individually.
For 4 months I met upcoming leaders and in individual sessions and with the rest of the group each month for group workshops and every one ended with different types of assignment depending on the topic.
The topics in this program were: teamwork, emotional intelligence in the working environment, assertive communication, the impact of a first good impression, and learning to say No, among others.
Learning material was provided and open via of communication were always available. What I good process we had in place, at least that is what I thought.
Techniques taught were not being followed, good feedback was given about my program yet results were not stating the same, then I realized they are some coachees who cannot and will not be coached.
You cannot teach someone who does not want to learn, you cannot buy prepare a dish, serve it and also feed it to someone, chew it for them and also swallow it can you?
Whatever you do with a good heart will always be enough and if the rest does not fall into place, then it was just not meant to be, or the moment was not the right one.
Be the Coach you would want to have as one, so the right Coachees will come your way because not always the Coachee will be Coached and you will just have to move on!
